Virgnia Votes In New Governor

After pulling out to an early lead, GOP gubernatorial candidate Republican  Kenneth "the Cucc" Cuccinelli has fallen behind his Democratic rival, Terry "Big Mac" McAuliffe, who looks to be on track to be Virginia's next governor.  Congrats to the McAuliffe team on a successful campaign, and to the Commonwealth of Virginia on making the correct choice for governor.

While the early returns seemed to put Cucc out in front, the less populous "red" counties always tend to get their votes in first, and as more and more districts reported in, the pre-election pollsters were vindicated.  Honestly, I'm a little surprised at just how close the margin turned out to be, but one way or the other, Virginia is looking a lot like a light blue state these days.  While the demographic shifts which have been driving this political transformation are only going to accelerate in the coming years, the Virginia GOP has never been known for losing gracefully, and will likely rally after this defeat.
